The tour along the South Coast of the Crimea climaxes at Yalta, a Mediterranean-look town, situated at some 90-kms distance from Sevastopol. Before the Russian revolution it used to be a posh resort for the Russian nobility. The Russian Emperor Alexander II built his summer residence at Livadia at a 3-kms distance from Yalta.
Apart from Livadia palace, a scene of the Yalta conference during WWII, one can visit the former palaces (some of them are used as sanatoria at present). Alexnader Nevsky cathedral is an acting orthodox church which was consecrated in the presence of Nikholas II and his family. An acting Armenian church is worth seeing.
Massandra, Alupka, the Swallow’s Nest Castle, Gourzuf, Nikita Botanical Gardens and whatnot are situated at a close distance from the town of Yalta.
The main street, the embankment is abundant in posh restaurants, cafes and open-air terraces.
